Public Speaking/Executive Preparation
How Does Private Instruction Differ From Executive Courses?
Similarly to acting classes, sometimes people need one-on-one attention to feel confident in their presentations and speeches. Attending a corporate speech training course or executive preparation course is a wonderful way to gain skills. However, some of my clients have felt that they did not get the individual care and attention in these courses to feel truly themselves in their corporate life. We blend principles from the theatre, concepts of healthy vocal productions, as well as the fundamentals of public speaking into an approach that has helped business clients to find their corporate voice.
Bringing Yourself to the Business World
A lot of success in the world of business is related to one’s ability to express oneself. When presentations, speeches, or your public presence is shy, unconfident, flat, or hesitant, it is much more difficult to achieve success. On the other hand, when your public presence is vibrant, friendly, humorous, confident, approachable, and trustworthy, people want to give you more and more responsibility. Sometimes what is lost in speech programs is the ability to find one’s own voice. People may be “well-spoken” and “professional”, yet still struggle to find that extra spark that makes a person a truly dynamic speaker. This can be hard to find in large classes and within the corporate dynamic. In our work together, one of our primary focuses will be to make sure that you master how to be professional and yet bring a great deal of your own personality into your corporate presence.
Working On Your Speeches and Presentations
If you are preparing for a big speech or presentation and would like to practice for it and get some ideas, this is a great place to do it. We believe in creating a positive, creative, and professional environment where you can get some honest and effective feedback about your public speaking. My studio is equipped with a lectern and a microphone, as well as sound equipment should we need to record your work.
One of the biggest mistakes people make with public speaking, is not knowing how to prepare effectively. Many times speakers will “envision” what they want to do with their speeches and then will find the circumstances of their speeches jarringly different than their expectations. As a result, their performance and sometimes career can suffer.
In our work together, we will show you effective methods to prepare and practice for your speeches. Having a game-plan and some technique for your public speaking can make an enormous difference in your confidence and performance. Also, this is a great way to practice blending your unique personality with your professional presence.
Do You Travel To Corporate Offices?
Most people prefer to work on their public speaking at my vocal studio on the Upper West Side. It is a wonderful environment for building confidence for your corporate presence. But, sometimes, we are asked to travel to corporate offices to train speakers. If you are involved with a business or corporation and would like me to travel to your office to offer training, we are open to this and we can discuss these details.
